Mediterranean Diet

Is the Mediterranean good or bad?   It eliminates dairy, limits red meat, high in monosaturated fats (olive oil and avocado), high fruit, vegetable, bean, poultry, grains and seafood intake. Moderate amounts of alcohol per day (1-2) drinks per day. The grains(gluten) and the alcohol(sugar) are a big part of the diet. Is there a big risk of increasing diabetes from this diet?
